Have great skiing and riding at Wildcat Mountains this weekend!

Come on up for the absolute last weekend of the 2006/07 skiing and riding season at Wildcat Mountain. It’ll be open for skiing and riding on Saturday and Sunday May 5th and 6th. Wildcat operates 4-person scenic gondola sky-rides in the summer and fall seasons car hire .This year these rides are scheduled to open on Memorial Day Weekend, beginning May 26th. A new 2,100 foot ZipRider cable zip-line ride is anticipated to open in the month of June. It is intended to operate on a year-round basis. Wildcat is renowned for a long spring skiing and riding season and it’ll celebrate its 50th year of continuous operations in 2007/08. Wildcat has received six feet of fresh snow this April. The ski resort of the 3 Valleys area in Savoie, France is a fantastic skiing destination with a number of resorts. Volcanoes Calling # 12: Mount Etna, Italy

Location: 37°43.7667′N 15°0.2833′E, Sicily, Italy Elevation: 3,323 metres Type: Stratovolcano It is the oldest and the most active volcano in Europe. Sicily’s greatest natural attraction is also its highest mountain. To the ancient Greeks, Mount Etna was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. Etna offers skiing in the Winter months and breathtaking hikes in the woods during the Summer. Since Etna is a strato volcano, with relatively cool lava temperatures and numerous openings (vents), nobody ever knows precisely where on its vast surface the next eruption will be. This is the place to find recent lava flows.

Uncrowded Swiss Ski Village?

Such a place does exist in Switzerland’s quaint old village of Chandolin. It has been recommended as a good, uncrowded ski option by the Guardian newspaper. Demographics show only fifty permanent inhabitants in the village. Despite its isolation, there are 75 kilometres of different runs.

Last of Skiing in New Zealand

Lingering snow has given kids a last chance to be able to polish their skiing skills at South Island at the good skiing fields of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. New Terrain park for Seven Springs Resort

The Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania is building a Superpipe, rails and other extreme sport-type features in a new terrain park near its Alpine Meadows slope. This will be developed as a perfect venue for Skiers and Snowboarders.The Superpipe, shaped like the letter U, will be 450 feet long and 56 feet wide. Its walls will be 18 feet high.It will definitely become a bigger attraction for extreme sports junkies.

Christmas Skiing Treat this Year for New Zealand

With world weather conditions haywire, there has been more snowfall in North Island in New Zealand. Junction Ski and Board’s Linda Inkster says while October snow falls are not unusual. Both Turoa and Whakapapa skifields have had at least 20 centimetres of snow during the past two days, with blizzard conditions in downtown Ohakune yesterday. Lets hope kids get a white Christmas there.
