    White Air – the pumping adrenaline, the reverence of one’s peers and the feat of putting one over nature that’s what feels about this fest. Says Phil Maynard who had a shot at understanding the extreme sports culture. Being a novice he found the sport of mountain boarding a little taxing but was bang up to the games spirit. While experienced risktakers performed all sorts of death-defying stunts on land and sea all around him . The White Air festival includes events like Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Surfing in the extreme watersports category. Mountain Boarding, Skate and BMX ensure an action-packed sight on land. Even a beginner gets to learn a lot with helpful tutors and guides all over the place. If you missed it this year get set for next year 2007 White Air to be held between August 27th-Sep 2nd in its 11th year, it will also be holding The World Windsurfing Formula Championships 2007.     Come close to Flying with Indoor Skydiving

    The foremost fantasy of most children is to be able to fly. Well if you are afraid of the leap but want to fly then indoor skydiving is the thing for you! Yet even this can put fear in a lot of people. Procedure: It involves floating on a column of high-speed air inside a tube-like chamber. training session includes a five-minute video, you’re taught the proper posture: back arched, arms above your head and legs slightly bent. It seems easy, but once you get into the chamber, there are so many fluctuations. Precaution : People with neck or shoulder problems, or previous shoulder separations should avoid it. How safe?: Dive with SkyVenture, it started in Orlando in 1998. Owner Bill Kitchen made previous wind tunnels safer. His system creates smoother air in the chamber than the old way and a wall-to-wall airflow eliminates the possibility of falling off the column of air. There are nets at the bottom and top of the chamber, but it’s impossible to reach the top because the air disperses as the upper chamber expands. Rates: First-timers get a training session, rental equipment – suit, elbow and knee pads, helmet, goggles, earplugs – and a pair of two-minute flights for $48. Return trips cost $14 a minute. This can be the most amazing experience for children as they fly better than adults, they let the wind mold their bodies instead of being whipped by it.     North America’s Top 10 Ski Destinations

    The ski vacations are in full swing right now, therefore, most of the skiers have already stepped out for skiing or making their plans to choose best ski destinations. Well, the Travelzoo has enlisted the top 10 ski destinations in North America, based on the survey of more than 6,500 subscribers. The voting was conducted on the personal experience of visitors. Famous Lake Tahoe, Calif was clinched the top position as 30% of subscribers voted it. Travelzoo editors also ranked Northern California location for both skiers and non-skiers.     Daring Rescue as Yacht Goes Under

    Alex Thompson competing in the Velux 5 Oceans competition (a 30,140-nautical-mile race) was doing well .Unfortunately while trying to gain second place more than halfway through the first leg of the race a fitting on the top of his 3.6-ton canting keel snapped off, resulting in the failure of his ballast keel and in the foundering of the boat. Thompson via satellite phone to his shore crew said: I can’t believe it; I’m absolutely gutted He was just one mile behind the sailor in second place, Mike Golding. Once contacted Golding on Ecover moved to rescue Alex Thompson.Both of them are from Britain. Though the future of Thompson’s $1 million worth, 60-foot yacht, Hugo Boss is uncertain he himself must wait in a neoprene survival suit to be fetched from his life raft. Hopefully the sharks won’t get him. As of yesterday Bernard Stamm, the defending champion from Switzerland, was in the lead.

    Buhl to be skydiving destination?

    This just might become a skydiving thrill seeker destination. The City Council on Monday unanimously approved Paul and Denise Janes’ skydiving operation at the Buhl Municipal Airport. The couple run the Skydown Sport Skydiving in Caldwell. The building of the airport will be leased for $250 a month. Mayor Charles Sheridan said: We hope that those who come to skydive stop in Buhl, Our hope is that the skydiving operation creates a boost to our economy. They are hoping to begin skydiving by march.     Mount Etna remains loaded with activities for travelers despite eruptions

    Mount Etna is the largest active volcano on the east-coast of Sicily, Europe. It is currently standing about 3,350m (10,991 ft) which is nearly three times higher than Mount Vesuvius, the next largest volcano. Its almost constant eruption puts it in the active volcano’s category. The heart-threatening massive explosion emits the rivers of molten rock. Its last eruption in 2003 had completely changed the southern landscape and swallowed the ancient pine forest with emitting ash to the height of 2,300 feet. It is of great interest to know that due to its history of recent activity Mount Etna has been designated a Decade Volcano by the United Nations. You can make your visit these days by boarding the daily bus from Catania to the Rifugio Sapienza (6,300 feet). From there it is adventurous if you ascend on foot and climb the winding track to the Bocca Nuova (9,700 feet). Bocca Nuova (New Crater), formed in the 2003 eruptions is still warm on its edges. A 45-minute walk can take you there. Etna remains the prime attraction and Sicily’s seven Aeolian Islands are a genuine volcanic playground. Stromboli, constantly active (emits in every 20 minutes) cone frequently release radiant lava into the air. European low class carries Ryanair and Air Berlin operate their direct flights to Catania and Palermo while US flights generally take halt either in Milan or in Rome.     Qinghai-Tibet Railway: Train to the roof of the world

    The world’s highest Train Journey with an average altitude of 4500m. Route: The 1142km railway, climbs to 5072m between the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, and China’s northwestern Qinghai province. Half of it lies on permafrost. Facts: It is at least 200 meters higher than the Peruvian railway in the Andes, which was formerly the world’s most elevated track. About 550 kilometers of the tracks run on frozen earth, the longest in any of the world’s plateau railways. Care: Make sure that you are fit enough to travel at such a height even though the train provides oxygen to every seat .     Ride the waves with Kayak Surfing

    White water kayaking has been very popular sport but riding the surf with sea kayaks can also be extremely enthralling. This sport is more challenging than surfing,the kayak surfers cannot easily dive under a big wave like a board surfer. They have to ride out a mistake upside down, with their heads in the water, until they can Eskimo roll back upright. Bill Becher clues us in. The surfers use a double-ended paddle for power, wear helmets and neoprene tops , to shut out the cold and get into a sea kayaks, with a flat, surfboard-like bottom and fins. For maximum control they have to be totally lodged into their seats. Modern surf kayaks are hand-built using light and strong carbon-Kevlar composite materials These kayaks have pockets in their flat surfboard-like bottoms that allow kayakers to add and adjust the position of plastic fins.     Mount Kinabalu, the friendliest Route to enhance your trekking skills!

    If you are a novice mountain trekker and intend to enhance your skills in mountaineering then Mount Kinabalu, is the best choice for you. Located in Sabah, Malaysia, with the lofty height of 4,095.2 metres, it is one of the most prominent mountain in South East Asia.
