Here we were at the top in Rohtang. We started off descending downwards the valley, the road was narrow, the view was ultimate, and I had to ask my friend to drive slow as I wanted to capture some images of the valley. And I tell you my friends that from Manali onwards every place I saw, I felt like taking a picture; I am sure if I would have done that my camera would have busted out of happiness and run out of pictures.
This is called Chandra valley and we went downhill until we reach Koksar where we saw the beautiful river. Most the roadside dhabas we saw was organized by Tibetans and they serve tasty and cheap Tibetan dishes to the travelers. A friend of mine called Rakesh, our tour organizer, who owns a DEEPAK GUEST HOUSE in Manali, told me that Indian government is building a tunnel from Manali to Koksar which will shorten the route in future and then we don’t have to climb Rohtang. Rakesh had a 4 years experience of backpacking in these Trance Himalayas, he had been a great guide and a great help all the way.

As we were proceeding forward, we reached Sissu crossed Gondla, Tandi and were now heading towards keylong, where we were supposed to take our lunch. I started seeing green pastures around, it was so beautiful to see the green grass after a long time. By 1 o’clock we reached Keylong and stopped there for our lunch, I had some fried rice, mutton momos and a bottle of beer; I was completely satisfied with the quality food we ate there. We started off; big patches of grasslands were coming in the view. My friend Tuti, the Israeli babe, wanted to stop and shoot some video of the place, so we stopped for some smoke as well.

It was so beautiful that we stopped there for almost an hour. Assi sang some beautiful Spanish songs and the time we had was worth treasured. Then we again started as my friend Rakesh told us that we have to reach Sarchu before night and we were taking a lot of time in watching the places.
So we decided to drive faster and enjoy the surroundings from the jeep window itself. Crossing Jispa, Darcha and Patseo we were riding towards the BARALACHA LA (pass) and we came across a huge mass of glacier melting down to the road and I tell u there was so much of water on the road that it our jeep wheels almost disappeared in that water and I wonder Enfield riders would had a great tough time to cross over it.

Adventure was running in our blood and we were in great spirits. The word Baralacha Pass means ‘a pass with crossroads’. The “twelve-horned” pass forms the head of three valleys - the Chandra, the Bhaga, and the Yunan. And I am sure it will blow your mind when you see this in front of your eyes. It is at a height of 4650 metes.
Slowly as the night rolled over, we reached Sarchu which is the border between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. We rolled out our tents put a big fire. Tuti rolled in some bottles of booze which almost all of us needed, and the party begun. Assi played an awesome guitar and all of us sang our favorite songs. It was quarter past 1 by the time we ate our food and went to sleep. Rakesh told us that we have to get up early in the morning and get set go by the time its 6 o’clock. Good night.
