At a time when space travel is all the hype if you can’t afford it , go in for the next best thing. Plan a trip to Cape Canaveral

Welcome to the Space Coast of the Us, the site of the Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. America’s largest launch center, used for all manned launches.

Around 1.5 million tourists a year come to the visitors’ centre at NASA’s spaceport, the launch site from where the National Aeronautical and Space Administration readies its space shuttles before they soar aloft.

Location: Is a strip of land in Brevard County, Florida, United States, near the center of that state’s Atlantic coast at 28°33′21″N, 80°36′17″W

Those interested in understanding the history of this place need more than a day. The open-air visitor centre boasts a ROCKET GARDEN with eight rockets from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programmes of the 1960s and 1970s. A full-size mock-up of the ‘Explorer’ - the first generation space shuttle - stands close by.
Man who went to the moon catches up with everyone in the center in the first spacesuit. Of course for comfort his suit is provided with an AC.

A visit to the launch pad area at Cape Canaveral is a must. It is a lengthy bus ride to the ‘Vehicle Assembly Building where the space rockets bound for the moon were once put together.

Latest addition: New state-of-the art simulator which will shake and rattle guests for nearly five minutes before a ‘porthole’ opens to reveal a breathtaking view of the stars.

Rates: 38 US dollars each for adults and 28 US dollars for children under 11 years of age.
