Sir Richard Branson, the british millionaire was in New York to unveil a model of the rocket-powered vehicle SpaceShipTwo made by his company Virgin Galactic which will take passengers on suborbital flights sometime after 2008.
Branson was quoted as saying
It won’t be much different than this,’ ‘It’s strange to think that in 12 months we’ll be unveiling the actual plane, and then test flights will commence right after that.’
The spacecraft will carry six passengers and two pilots and space-crazed tourists who will pay each 200,000 dollars for a two-and-a-half-hour flight. The flight will be in the luxury of cushioned seats.
