Nepali trekking guide from Parbat has bagged a British Tourist Guide Award for his outstanding service.
Shesh Kant Sharma, 33, of Karkineta-2, Lamachaur of Parbat was awarded the ‘Paul Morrison Award-2006′ jointly along with Manda Chisanga from Zambia, for his laudable job as a trekking guide by the British travel magazine - Wanderlust.
He will get a letter of appreciation along with his share of 5000₤ . he got the award on October 4 at the Royal Geographical Society, Being the first Nepali to have won it. An exhuberant Sharma is quoted to have said:
‘The foreigners seem to recognise a well-done job,’. ‘This has inspired me to perform even better in the future.’
He ha bee a trekking guide for overt 12 years now. The recipients are awarded on the basis of the recommendations of tourists as well as merit. So you know whom to choose for your next trek.
