This place has been reffered to as the Asian Auschwitz and, in terms of inhumanity and horror. At least 3,000 prisoners, mainly Chinese, were killed and almost 250,000 Chinese left to die through the biological warfare experiments.

They were infected with diseases such as anthrax, cholera and even bubonic plague. To gauge the effect of these diseases on their subjects (called ‘logs’) they were not given anesthesia, live operations (vivisection) were performed on them. In many cases the subjects would regain consciousness while the dissection was taking place.
For research live bombs were detonated at close range of the prisoners they were also subjected to frostbite in the open courtyards. These Killing fields at Harbin are most definitely haunted by the ghosts of tortured beings.
