Elevation: 2,463 metres
Type: Stratovolcano(Active)

It is an active volcano in the Philippines on the island of Luzon, in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region. Its almost perfectly-shaped cone is considered by some to be the Philippine equivalent of Mount Fuji in Japan.

The historical eruptions of this basaltic-andesitic volcano date back to 1616 and range from strombolian to basaltic plinian, with cyclical activity beginning with basaltic eruptions, followed by longer term andesitic lava flows. Mayon’s most violent eruption, in 1814, killed more than 1200 people and devastated several towns. It sure would be an experience to climb this living volcano.
