Fuji Five Lakes are located in an arc around the northern half of Mount Fuji(Fuji-san).The near-perfect, snow-capped cone of Mt Fuji is well known landmark of Tokyo.
Mount Fuji last erupted in 1707 and covered Edo (present day Tokyo) some 60 miles away. Mt Fuji is not only a natural wonder, it is a sacred site said to be imbued with a living spirit, and has long been a source of inspiration for poets and artists alike.
A very popular destination it remains much crowded. The five lakes are in the countryside, and many resorts offer camping, boating, fishing, and similar rustic recreation.
